Chopped Vs. Iron Chef America

                                                        "Chopped and Iron Chef America"

Chopped and Iron Chef America is both reality cooking television series based on cooking and competition. Chopped and Iron chef America is hosted shows. Ted Allen hosts Chopped and Mark Dacascos is the host of Iron Chef America. In these two shows the completion is very intense and competitive, this makes the show interesting.
On the show Chopped, there re four chef competing to win 10,000 dollars and high self-esteem because they become the the Chopped champion. On other episodes, Chopped bring back previous champions and they compete for their favorite charity. There are always three judges at the panel. However, it varies on different episodes, but the main three that are judges are; Alex Guarnaschelli, Geoffrey Zakarian, and Marc Murphy. Sometimes the competitors share the same thing in common like; the same cooking style or specialties. When watching chopped you will never know what to expect. The show always has weird ingredients on there with chefs from all over. I remember one show had four lunch aides competing, which was very interesting because lunch aides aren't labeled as chefs in the real world, but the ladies proved different. However, the point of the show is; chefs must cook the ingredients in the basket and execute them well into a dish, plate the food in a way that is pleasing to the judges and be creative. There are three rounds, which consists of appetizer, entree and dessert. Whoever makes it to the dessert round and defeats their challenger wins the 10,000 and bragging rights.
Chopped is really enjoyable to watch. The show gives new recipes to the audience that they can pick up from watching the chefs. This show influenced me to cook because before i never cooked. It is very entertaining and unbelievable what the chefs can do with such weird ingredients. There are some things that that the show lacks when it comes to the judges and the ingredients being a little too weird. For example, one rule in Chopped is one must use all of the ingredients in the basket. There were times when the judges kept the chef that did not incorporate the ingredients in their dish, but sent home the chef that did. Furthermore, the judges critique every little thing, like it was an easy task for the chefs to complete in a timely matter. Overall, i wish they can put some ingredients in the basket that work well with one another.
A few things on the show Iron Chef America that is different from Chopped are there are two competitors instead of one. The Iron chefs stay the same but the challenger is different. To name a few of the Iron Chefs, there is; Mario Batali, Cat Cora, Geoffrey Zakarian, and Alex Guarnaschelli. As you can see Iron Chefs are also the judges on Chopped. Iron Chef is a Japanese Program and they have the host Mark Dacascos, who is really a good fit for the show. He is a martial arts artist and has won several fighting competitions. He connects very much with the show. On the show he talks and acts as if he is hosting a Japanese fighting competition. Unlike, he just says his usual lines. Similar to Chopped, iron Chef have secret ingredients, however it only contains one ingredient in which the Iron Chef and challenger must use to make five dishes. The secret ingredients does not change, but in shopped there are different ingredients in the basket for each round. On Iron Chef America the competitors have one hour to complete five dishes and on Chopped the time changes for each round. When I watch cooking shows I expect the food to look appealing. The food can look appealing, however we know that the ingredients that is used, which can sometimes be a turn off. Furthermore, Iron Chef can get boring because it's just a whole hour of them cooking before deliberation and choosing a winner. I think Iron Chef needs to split the hour into rounds to make it more interesting for the audience and viewers.
